Because we have spent most of our lives in the southwest Louisiana community, and we work here every day, we are committed to making it a better place to live and work. Ours is a beautiful and unique geography and culture, and we are proud to be a part of it.
Children have always been our special interest, and we are involved in their lives in many ways. We frequently conduct lab tours for children's groups, and contribute to the enrichment of their lives in other areas as well.
We are proud to be a Grand Sponsor of the Children's Miracle Network. This worthy charity raises money locally that is kept in the southwest Louisiana area to be used to help children with medical needs and other worthwhile programs to educate and improve the quality of their lives. We have been involved with CMN since 1991.
As one of St John Elementary School's Partners in Education, we are privileged to host their year end party for the Most Improved Students in each classroom. This program is not designed to recognize the best students, as there are already numerous programs and rewards for them. Instead, this program recognizes the hard work and commitment made by those students who must work very hard to improve their grades.
Every 6 weeks, each classroom teacher selects one student from their class that has done an exemplary job of improving their grades for that grade period, and that student is honored at a special luncheon by one of the Partners in Education. At the end of the year, each teacher selects the one student in their classroom who has excelled at improving for the entire year.
It is this year end luncheon that we proudly sponsor each year. Seeing the excitement and pride on the faces of these youngsters - many who have never eaten out in a restaurant before - is the most satisfying experience we know of. And the notes of thanks we get from the students and the parents is a great source of pride for us.
